Hold Onto Your Seat! This Is Going to Be a Wild Post!
Expect this post to be all over the place, because I'm including as much as I can in it. As a matter of fact, I'm going to take some unfinished posts in draft and work with them. Right now I'm up to my eyeballs in writing 100 short (100-150 word) articles for a writing project I was contracted for. The deadline to get these articles in...drum roll please...FRIDAY! As of today I have 5 articles written. You do the math, I'm way behind and my computer would be the culprit. Anyway, now that things are up and running again with my computer I think I can comfortably write 3-4 articles an hour. The most time consuming aspect of writing the articles is doing the research. Once I've accumulated all the data, the actual writing part is a cinch.
As you can see daily journals of weaning Tar have gone by the wayside. Silly me for ever thinking I could commit to that. LOL Life has become very busy and I couldn't be more grateful. Why, you ask? Well, it's because of the projects that I've received have allowed me to work from home. This is a real dream come true and I thank God everyday for His provision and blessings. My efforts to work at home are still a work in progress phase. I'm not where I want to be, yet. But I am being shown consistently that through persistence and hard work it can be done. Unless the Lord leads me otherwise, I hope remain working at home for a while.
I do want to share some details of what's going on with weaning. Below are a few excerpts from posts I never finished:
November 4:
The process for us is going to be decidedly different than what any book, friend, relative or professional would suggest. This is for a few reasons. Firstly, Tar spends a few nights a week at his Dad's house so that rids both of us of the weaning challenge. Secondly, I feel weaning is about coming up with a method that works best for mother and child. Certainly, I have taken into consideration the advice from other sources. However, ultimately it's up to me what I feel works best for Tar's well being.
Right now we are working on getting Tar comfortable with no nursing after 1pm. I resume nursing him at bedtime around 7:30-9pm. Because of the way things are right now with him moving from two households, I'm not going to push him to meet the expectations that a lot of book would expect out of him at this point. This coming weekend we'll be able to give it another solid go. He's getting used to hearing me tell him nursing is for "night-night". All in all we are making progress, just very slow progress.
November 8:
BIG PROGRESS MADE! I'm so excited. Yesterday (Sat Nov. 7) and today I was able to get Tar to fall asleep at nap time without nursing him. Yahoo! He didn't even protest much. I'm so proud of him. I will admit that yesterday was a better day for him weaning-wise, though. He woke up from his nap chipper and in good spirits. Also we spent a large part of the afternoon at a church fair. However, this afternoon (Sun, Nov 8) he woke up crying and wanted to be nursed. I had to take him on a long walk to distract him. After we went in he still pouted and was cranky and I know it was because he wanted to nurse. All the same, I think he's made some great good progress this weekend.
Okay, so that's it for my efforts to cram in portions of my weaning post. In other news (a full post is forthcoming) I've joined this women in business networking group. I absolutely heart this group. The founders of the group are so totally committed to helping members grow and develop their businesses, it's insane. I've been to some of the most remarkable, inspiring group meetings. The kind that leave you feeling all tingly inside.
A few months before that I joined a crocheting group to help me hone in on developing my crocheting skills. I haven't been to any recent get togethers. But a few months ago I enjoyed some quality time bonding with more experienced "hookers". I want to get back into that. I'm realizing that I need to expand myself beyond the Mama roll. As women we tend to dedicate ourselves so exclusively to being mothers once the kids come along that we loose who we once were. We are more than Mamas. We are women with dreams and there's nothing wrong with having dreams that aren't centered around our children.
Anyway, folks if you have made it to the end of this post you deserve an award. I think I would have long abandoned this read, had it been on another blog. LOL I heart my bloggy friends!

I loved crocheting and have recently thought about taking it up again but when I look at my time and my responsibilities, I'm not sure that it's possible right now.
Maybe one day.
If you had told me a year ago, you'd turn into a hooker, I would have never believed it!
Awesome with the weaning progress and also with the fact you've got yourself a writing gig!
Girl you have alot going on. It's good to see when we're excited about alot going on. That is so true that we put ourselves aside to cater to our families and there is soooooo much more to us. Gifts and talents that are being hidden until our children leave home and then it takes umpteen years to find out where we should have been. It's so good to see women on the move. Congrats Congrats to all your accomplishments.
3-4 articles in an hr!!! Mami! you are good!
It is great that you are in the process of making a great work at home business. I am trying to do just that and starting from scratch.
Good luck with weaning. I'm glad you are choosing your own time frame and what works for you.
I'd love to learn to crotchet. I'm sure I will. It's hilar that you say 'hookers'
It's so true. Once I had dreams and now I'm just mom. I need to get me back.
Well enjoy your week!
Two things:
1. A big Whoooo-hoooo, puuullll uppp on your progress with Tar! I know it's such a relief when you can identify an ending in site! I remember the feeling quite well.
2. I LOVE how you've dug your heels right into freelance writing, with the complimentary stress of deadlines fast approaching and all...LOL! Ana, you are so FLY! 3-4 articles an hour is a feat I do not attempt, and I will now be channelling my inner Ana when I do my likkle one-per-hour ting!
HAPPY FOR YOU! Gitter done!
