On the Thrust of Changing Seasons
I can hardly believe the last time I wrote on my dear beloved blog was in September. My poor, deserted blog - oh how I love thee, but I can't seem to find the time for you these days. It's October and we are on the thrust of changing seasons. Fall has barely started. I love fall. The trees with their gold and orange leaves are breathtaking. I love to listen to the whistling wind as it blows through cracks in the window. Gone are the high 90 degree temperatures and in their place are 70-80 degree weather.Hold on.....! This is South Florida we're talking about here. It's still HOT, HOT, HOT in these parts. Florida doesn't get such lovely fall weather. I must have been dreaming. lol Okay, back to reality.
It is true that we are on the cuspis of the old and new season, although it may not seem like it in my neighborhood because the weather hasn't changed much. Ironically, the changing seasons seem to be mirroring my own life. Recently, I read this excerpt:
"by George Musser, Astronomical Society of the Pacific
There are two kinds of people: Those who enjoy the ebb and flow of the seasons, the dapples of autumnal color, the hoary headed frosts of winter, the flowers anew of spring, the live murmur of a summer's day. And those who don't find anything romantic in blinding snowstorms, ice-covered roads, or gangrenous frostbite; who would just as soon go south in the winter, and stay there..."
So here I am on the other end of yet another major change and I have a totally new resolve. I am at home again. I have joined the ranks of the 4-5 million jobless Americans and quite honestly, it might be the best thing that has happened to me in a long time.
I was grateful for my job, don't get me wrong. But my heart was never in it. My initial reason for going back to work was to allow me to continue my schooling. Unfortunately, that didn't work out as I thought it would. When that plan fell through my heart started longing to be back at home again. However, I didn't see a way that could happen, particularly after this change. I prayed about it and never stopped hoping, although I knew there was no other way, except for me to keep working. God, in His sense of humour, gave me my wish and over a week ago I lost my job.
I have a total sense of calm and contentment about this situation. I feel this is an answer to my prayers and I have leaped into this new challenge with enthusiasm and excitement. There are a few opportunities I've always wanted to pursue and I've never had the time to do them. Now I have the time and I can pour all my talent, efforts and drive into giving them a go. I feel so uninhibited it's amazing. With God's help, I hope to makes something out of nothing so I won't have to go back to work, in the conventional sense, again. Only time will tell, but I'm open to the possibilities.
