Anger

I have never seen myself as an angry person. Actually, I've often been described as being a fun, humorous, energetic person. So when a friend recently told me that I seemed angry...well...I got exactly that...angry. I might accept someone saying that I'm honest, almost to a fault. For instance, if you ask me your genuine opinion be prepared to receive exactly what you asked for. I don't see any reason to sugar-coat the truly with fluff. If that is what a person really wants when they ask me for my honest opinion they should ask me to flatter them. I'm good for that too! I love giving compliments. Actually, I'm a lot better at giving compliments, than receiving them.

Okay, so back to my friend that said that I am angry. She is right. I am genuinely angry for some things that I feel weren't quite fair in my eyes. Some of these things I had a sincere right to be angry about. Again, bringing up the church service this past Sunday, Pastor Bob told the congregation about how when life is going our way we are often "Yay God!", "God Rocks!" etc. etc. But when things start turning sour then we want to become angry with Him. Moreover, some of us will pray ourselves through a situation and lean on God, but become angry with Him when he doesn't give us the outcome that we want. Guilt! - of the latter.

This morning I picked up a notebook to start dictating today's schedule. Btw - I'm ROCKIN' it today and keeping on schedule. Woot! I opened the notebook to the first page and came across a list I had written of things to do when I'm angry. Did you all see the heaven open up and the angel sing?? lol But, seriously it was the weirdest thing. I don't know when and where I got this information. It could have been at a past church service or maybe listening to my favorite Christian radio show, but there it was. Amazing information to help me. Being the sharing person that I am *awwww* I'm sharing with you...

James 1:19-20 (NIV)
19My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.
  • Pray for the person or circumstance that caused your anger
  • Exercise strenuously for 20 minutes
  • Play a solo game of some sport or read a book
  • Hold your breath for 9 seconds. Repeat 3x
  • Memories 5 Bible verses on anger and speak them out loud when angry
  • Journal your thoughts and feelings

Additional Bible verses on anger: Psalm 4:4, Ephesians 4:26 and 1Cor 13:5

The Holy Bible has all the answers doesn't it—basic instructions before leaving earth! :)

God always answers before we ask. So thankful what you need was right there, and you could take it in, because anger is all consuming and can steal our joy.

Its amazing isn't it how we react with exactly the emotion that we're being accused of!

Anger is a natural emotion. We must control it rather than allowing it to control us.

Honeeeey! What a fabulous (and right on time) post! God surely does move us out of our way sometimes, and places the things in our path necessary for our growth. And yes, I sure did hear the angel sing :)
