What's In a Name...
My family enjoys reading my blog. I suppose there's something special in reading about yourself and knowing other people are reading about you too. It's like sorta-kinda being famous. On one end that can be exciting and cool. On the other end it's actually kind of scary. I often wonder in years to come if my two boys will love me or hate me for the things I've written about them. Hmmmmmm......lol
My 7 year old, has particularly become interested in reading my writings about his escapades. At times, in the week he'll ask, "Mom did you write something about me this week?"
When I tell him that I did, he'll excitedly ask to read about it. He gets a kick out of seeing pictures of himself and his brother. Our 16 mos old also lights up at images of all of us and will start calling out our names.
The Hubster tries to act like it's frivolous stuff, this blog posting of mine. But he can't fool me. I've caught him suggesting a time or two that I should blog about this happening or that happening. Certainly, that would indicate he finds enjoyment in knowing he's been the topic of interest on my blog. Ha!
Recently, my 7 year old asked why he is referred to as "Lil Man". I couldn't remember why the name choice. However, I did let him know that I preferred not to use his real name since a lot of people who read my blog don't know him in real life. He asked if he could choose his own name and I hardily agreed. The first set of names that came out of his mouth all had to do with Pokemon since he is really into Pokemon cards. He received an emphatic "no" to the names Bagon, Torterra, Bronzor, Pikachu and the other Pokemon names he suggested. Since that was a no-go he decided to try for Zak & Cody from The Suite Life of Zak & Cody on the Disney Channel. There was no uniqueness in these names.
After a few days of thinking about it he decided on "Super Tiger". Although, I think he is a super kid, using "super" in front of his name sounded too much like a cartoon superhero. I convinced him to drop the "super" and we both agreed that Tiger was perfect for him. So from here on out my 7yo will be know as Tiger.
He wanted to name the baby some other than "Lil One" so I agreed that he could choose a new name for him as well. Someone tell me why he chose the name FINGER at first?!?! LOL Ultimately, he decided on Tarr for his little brother's name.
As for the Hubster, he doesn't get a name change. He has no choice in the matter. He is and will always be the Hubster and the name stays. hehehehe... I love that name for my dou-dou (sweetheart in kreyol).

LOL! Super Tiger would have been AWESOME! And I'm ROTFL over FINGER!!! hahahaha!
My kids are older than yours but they check in with the blog everyday (and I check their facebook pages!!)My daughter particularly loves it when I write about her. My husband...he never reads! Drives me nuts.
Ha! why you hatn on the pokemon names?! come on you have to admit that some of those names are cute. but that's sweet that you let him pick his own new name.
i have thought about what my son will think when he grows up and reads my blog about him. whether he loves or hates it at least he'll know he was so important to me that I wanted to capture and share all his moments with the world =)
Happy Mother's Day!
I think those names will work. LOL
Changing it up! :)
