Disappointment

My heart is heavy. I know we all fail. Even as adults our ways are not perfect. Throw in the fact that as parents we have little sponges watching our every move, soaking up our every action and word. This makes falling short of the mark even all the more difficult. I remember my Mother telling me, "Do as I say and not as a I do."

My son came to me on Friday and wanted to know why they will bomb our nation. I was confused. I asked him who is going to bomb our nation and asked him who told him this.

He explained that at his school a Mom was telling another Mom Obama-nation means bomb-a-nation. I still wasn't following him. After much discussion I was able to figure out that what he was trying to say was Obama-nation = abomination.

I've seen this written on the Internet. I've even seen it written on some blogs I used to visit. Sadly enough, I've seen it written by Christians who should lead by example. Just another great example that as Christians we aren't sinless, so we should stop trying to act as if we walk on water. Obama-nation = abomination is not freedom of speech or exercising one's right to express yo self in my opinion. If this makes me intolerant, then intolerant I am. I'm not ashamed to say that I don't tolerate everything and that I actually have absolutes in my belief system. This nation as become far too tolerant and this is causing a serious demise in our culture and values. I know our forefathers are rolling in their graves.

I have issues with this situation that happened with Lil Man on several fronts. First of all, the Moms were careless to speak such harsh words in front of children who obviously aren't old enough to process this kind of information.

Secondly, I understand not everyone voted for our in coming administration. I'll be the first to admit I didn't go full throttle for Obama during the campaign season. I weighed the two candidates against each other, looking at the issues that were most important to me and then casted my vote. Each one of us voted on our own individual criteria. There were those that voted on race (sad, but true). Party affiliation played a key role for some, I'm sure. Others, considered religious views. And I'm sure the list could go on and on.

Despite whichever candidate won, I was determine as a good citizen to support and honor the vote of the land. I had a conversation with Lil Man during election night that no matter which candidate won, we are to be good sports about it.

I've been disappointed at the crude, disrespectful, childish behaviour that I have seen in grown folks, in the presences of children, with regard to our in coming administration. What is this teaching our children with regards to respecting leadership and government? What is this teaching them with regards to learning to loose with grace? Isn't there a way we can agree to disagree, but still move in the same direction unified and strong? Can't we all just get along???

Just sayin' folks....just sayin'

Yes, I know what you mean about blogs you used to visit! The rhetoric against him from Christian bloggers began to get on my last nerve! God is still on the throne, last I checked! The Bible says God sets up kings and removes them, I choose to be satisfied with that.

I voted third party, but I'm not going to use that to ignore the inauguration. We'll watch, discuss the symbolism, the branches of government, the(Lord willing) peaceful transition of power- which many Americans take for granted. Sounds like a great homeschool history lesson to me!

It's just crazy. I think some people have lost their mind over this election.

Some people just don't think straight all the time. I'm Glad that your little man came to you with his concerns.
I'm so sorry that you even have to discuss with him how stupid some people can be.
I will be watch the inauguration with ny kids and using this event to talk about how God is the one who knows what the futre holds for us and how great this moment in history is.

I feel your frustration, as well. I did not vote for Obama, but I'm with you. You cannot change the vote, and the American ppl decided. Now it's time for us to pray heavily that God helps him lead our country! Name calling and acting like children is not helpful in even ONE way. I totally agree with you - we are far too tolerant as a country. Free speech has run amuck with everyone making a laughing stock out of the most powerful people in our country. If we don't respect our own leaders, why should foreign countries' leaders respect them? It is a tangled web we weave...

I co-sign with Ann. God is still on the throne and Christians should accept that he is our president. Folk just need to move along, and pray. That's our job, nothing more nothing less.

I found that the bashing of the candidate you didn't support still continued. So, I'm not surprised to hear that it's still a topic of conversation.

What good is it to spew such hatred, and around children no less.

"I've been disappointed at the crude, disrespectful, childish behaviour that I have seen in grown folks" Would have been enough of a statement. I agree, many adults hardly seem to be adults even in the company of other adults, but then throw "in the presence of children" in the mix, and they seem like really old kids(which is worse than being a kid because you SHOULD know what's up). I'm 19 and this phenomenon has often comforted(quite the opposite really) me when I think of WHY some of my peers act the way they do. It is usually because their parents acted or still do act that way and never realized how stupid they were.

And I agree with what you said about learning to be okay with whoever is in office.

You're completely right. It's shameful the way some adults have behaved because their candidate was not elected. Not to mention irresponsible to behave that way in front of children. The posts coming from the so-called Christian bloggers post election were enough to make me unsubscribe from a few.

I heard this term for the first time yesterday in my dentist's office from another patient at the front desk. Yeah, I gave a look in that direction but no one was paying attention to me.
