Firemen's Fund Insurance Offers "Green" Coverage

According to an article in ConsumerAffairs.com, Firemen's Fund Insurance is offering "green" upgrades to some of its California homeowner policies. Firemen's had already been offering green coverage for commerical buildings for sometime. This new homeowner coverage is in response to wildfires that ravaged that state last year. Currently only "prestige premier" policyholders are eligible for their homes to be rebuilt following green environmental safety and efficiency standards. It appears that Firemen's Fund is the pioneer in offering green coverage to homeowners in the nation. However, Lexington Insurance Co has recently added on eco-friendly building coverage.

In other semi-green insurance news:

*Traverlers and Farmers give 10% discount for hybrids
*The "Allstate Green" Policy offers 2% discount for e-billing; $30 per policy is donated to green causes
*GMAC, Progressive, Farmers reduce premiums up to 54% for driving less
-Drive less than 15,000 miles per year, get a 13% discount
-Drive less than 2,500 miles per year, get a 54% discount
