Wednesday night I turned on my computer to do my late night blogging stuff. The computer booted up with no problem. I clicked on my browser and nothing happened. We've been experiencing some torrential rains just about every afternoon around 4pm. I assumed maybe the lightning might have caused some problems to our cable. I called our cable company and they did a diagnostic test on our connection and confirmed all was well. They offered to send someone out to do some tests on our microsoft explorer browser for $200 and I properly told them all-hail-to-the-naw for trying to rip us off kindly thanked them for the offer and declined. The nerve!
The hubster said he would take a look at it on Thursday after work. When he got home he spent the remainder of the day cleaning, defragmenting and deleting large old programs/files that are not being used. I cleaned up my favourites section and this morning my browser is working. YAY! I presume the computer was overloaded although, I am only using 56% of my memory. My computer is a dinosaur (4 years old which is a gazillion years in computer age) and I've been saving to get another one. I really want to switch to a Mac, but I'm a little apprehensive to do so since I know so little about Mackies. I have a brother that wouldn't use anything except for an Apple computer. He swear by them, but he's a computer genius - no lie he's brilliant when it comes to computers. I, on the other hand, have no smarts when it comes to computers.
Have any of you made the switch? Are Mackies user friendly? I've heard not-so positive things about them in regards to how easy it is to maneuver their programs.

Dude,
You're getting a MAC! You'll be HOOKED!
We made the switch in 1999 and have NEVER looked back since.
I LOVE my APPLE!
HA I thought about Tanyetta when you said you wanted to make the switch. Well ours is just about 4 years old also and we we need a new one but I am afraid to make the switch.
I think these computers are all communicating in secret and discussed the strike. Mine conked out on me last month I believe. It took me hours to get it back to working condition. It's a horrible thing. The thought of me going without a computer for any amount of time was scary.
A friend of mine linked me to your site saying it was "my kinda place" and so I wanted to say hello. :) I'm a 'green mamma' as well. (well, taking steps to be one)
I've been contemplating switching to Mac once our computer gets old. It's only a year old now so we'll have it for a while... for us that's means until it completely stops working. lol
I just read your post about your son and making him take the item back to the store and you asking if that was "too mean." NO! lol My husband is a state trooper, and you are RIGHT. I see kids my children's ages that are already well on their way to being in the back of hubby's patrol car in the next few years. I practice gentle discipline, but we run a tight ship around here and the kids know it. I see them routinely make "right choices" in public so I assume our parenting is working for now. I would have done exactly what you did. A little embarrassment can be a good lesson when a child does something that extreme.
Woman, I have GOT to get you on the mac. Email me and we'll chat.
A Mac is THE BEST!!! I used to be an AVID Mac user, till I met my hubby who refused to own a Mac. He hated them, a few years down the road, he's now thinking that maybe my next computer (needed soon) can be a Mac once again, he's been very Anti-Microsoft lately he doesn't even use windows anymore lol
GO FOR IT! You won't be disappointed, once you go Mac, you'll hate to go back ;)
Macs are the BEST and are SOOO incredibly user friendly. We've had nothing but Macs at home and until I started work at my recently former job, hadn't touched a PC in YEARS. I was miserable from day one on it.
Besides the user friendliness Macs, you won't have the virus issues you get with PCs.
Can't say enough GREAT things about Macs. Definitely GET ONE! :)
Rania
Glad you were able to connect!
MACs are very easy to use.
I've been thinking of a switch also. However, my current computer is only two years old.
