Mommy Blogger = Mommy Brand

When I began blogging just over a year ago - June 12, 2007 (Happy Belated Birthday to me!) I never could have imagined the adventure that blogging had in store for me. My journey all began because I needed a place to air out my thoughts about my pregnancy. I didn't intend for anyone to read what I had to say and quite honestly, I couldn't have understood why anyone would want to. My ramblings were the crazy, hormonal rants of a very emotional pregnant woman. How interesting could that be??

One day I decided to venture out to really get to know what blogosphere was all about. For nearly 3 hours I blog hopped around the blogdom and discovered some of the most incredible, funny, inspirational, enlightening blogs. From that point on I was hooked to blogging. It was refreshing to read posts from other Mamas that had experiences similar to mine. There was comraderie, friendship, support, some unnecessary drama (ack!), virtual crying on shoulders, advice, support and connection. To sum it up in one word, we were Mommy Bloggers.

Mommy Bloggers? Yes, Mommy Bloggers. Friends, pull up to my table in my virtual garden and chat with me a spell. Let's get to the bottom of this Mommy Blogger stuff. It's community of many, many Mamas who voice their opinion through their blogs about everything from their families to the environment to product reviews and everything in between. It a strong force to be reckoned with. So powerful it's shaking the foundation of corporate America, politics and the media. Mommy Bloggers can not be silenced. We are showing the nation we are more than just women who nurture our children. We can influence America's spending habits, presidential elections and consumer attitudes. And believe it or not Mamas, we are finally being heard. Mommy Bloggers are getting their due respect and companies are vying for our opinion of their products.

Companies are now starting to see Mommy Bloggers as professionals. They are seeking to approach us and want our honest reviews of their products. They want to be in our good graces. They have finally realized if they please the Mama, they please a whole family. However, if they mess with a Mama, they've ruined their name in the entire community. You know how we go, Mamas! We spread a bad word like wild fire and make sure EVERYBODY knows.

Friends, if you are a Mommy Blogger, you are a target market. A niche. A brand. Companies want to connect with you. On my sidebar is a widget to Mom Select a program that connects Mommy Bloggers to companies wanting to tap into the mom market. Don't be afraid. Check it out. At the very least, enter for a chance to win a $100 gift certificate to Land's End. Simply complete this survey and you've qualified yourself to win a gift certificate.

You're so right, we have taken claim on the map as women who are more than being "just a Mom". Look at us girlie, we're doing the damn thang!! Thanks to the internet and the world of blogging our voices are being listened to. I'm with you, I can't believe how many people actually want to hear from us. Who actually can't wait to read what we're saying.

Happy Blogosversary to you!!
Great post!!

Bloggers in general are being noticed, and great that moms are included. We spend the money and make most of the decisions so why not be heard. Shoot, the wheels on the bus go round and round, and so does the world!
