Next I wanted to answer two questions that I know has been burning in a few of your beautiful minds due to a few emails I've received. I promise I wasn't ignoring any inquiries, just waiting for the right time.

Who did your website?
The very lovely Shera fromSweet 'n Simple Designs. She was amazing! The design she created for my blog totally fit my style and personality to a tee. Her prices are very reasonable and I would recommend anyone to her.

Why did you rename your website and what does "Quiskaeya" mean? Why that name?
This question is actually 3 questions in one. I meant to name my blog "Quiskaeya". When I was filling out the info to set up my blog I typed in "The Ramblings of a Woman" and didn't like it. The first 2 mos of having the blog I wasn't very faithful in using it so I forgot to rename it. Later, as I began to meet other bloggers and they began to recognize me by "The Ramblings..." I figured it was too late to change the name.

"Quiskaeya" is derived from the Taino name "Quiskeya" (or Krel "Kiskeya") which was originally given to Haiti. The original indigenous Amerindian inhabitants of the island named it that before it was discovered by Columbus. I started referring to Haiti as "Quiskaeya" shortly after immigrating to the US when I was 17. One night at college when I was very homesick I called my Mama. She started telling me about all the crazy political stuff and how bad the country was. It saddned and upset me so badly that I told her to never speak to me about Haiti again. She became SO angry and told me that I was never to forget my homeland no matter how bad it became. She said that a person who forgets where they come from has no direction to where they need to go. We can only get better than our past if we recognize it. I responded that the Haiti of today was not my home and that the original Quiskaeya is. I wanted to only think of the good Haiti that brought back wonderful memories of growing up there. Hence, began my reference to Haiti as Quiskaeya.
