Eco-friendly tip #5: The Post Office Isn't Just for Dropping Off Mail
Have an old cell phone, MP3 player, ink cartridge or camera that you want to get rid of? The next time you take a stroll to the post office drop these things off there. According to Computer World the post office has started a new pilot program aimed at recycling old gadgets. In the "mail back" program there are about 1,500 post office location around the nation that offer free, no postage necessary envelopes. Drop your recyclable electronic gadgets in these envelopes and they will be shipped to Clover Technologies Group , which recycles, remanufactures and remarkets inkjet cartridges, laser cartridges and small electronics.
At the moment this "mail back" program is on a trial bases, focused only in ten cities. These cities included Washington, D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles and San Diego. If successful, it will go nationwide in the fall, according to the Postal Service.
