Packing up our home and other tidbits

Welllllllll we are finally packed up and out of my condo! The last few days have been quite an experience packing our belongings with an almost 2 month old. To make matters even worse, Lil Man was sick with Bronchitis and it's allergy season for me! Between, sneezing, coughing and entertaining a baby we got the job done. You never know how much junk you have until it's time to move. I would have never thought a condo could hold so much stuff. We downsized a whole bunch, but still we have so much.

We won't be leaving Florida for another 2-3 mos so we are renting a flat of a friend. It's only one bedroom so it's a bit cramped, but workable. We are hoping the apartment property can hurry along and get our apartment in NC so we can be out of here as soon as possible. Hubby's supposed to report to work the end of April, so if the apartment situation takes long than expected he may have to go ahead of us. He would then come down and help with the big move once we get the apartment.

As I mentioned above Lil Man is getting over Bronchitis. For 2 days he had no voice. Do you think the house was a little quieter? Did he cease to ask 3 bazillion questions? Did Mommy get a bit of a reprieve from being his personal encyclopedia (well you know Moms are supposed to know EVERYTHING)? I'm guessing the stars weren't aligned in the sky correctly for such a break for Mommy. Or maybe I haven't been giving enough to charity, because no such reprieve was given. Try as I may to convince him talking would only keep him at home longer (and he was dying to go back to school) he still squeaked and squawked inquiries about everything. I guess he's a rambler like his Mama.

Lil One didn't enjoy the moving all too well. I've noticed that he doesn't like too much stimulation or new environments. I can't take him out for too long or else he'll become super cranky. It's interesting to see the similarity between him and Lil Man when he was that age. Lil One is a very happy baby just like my first son. But Lil Man loved being out (and still does) and went easily to other people. Lil One prefers me to others. Lil Man started cooing and responding to voices early on and so has begun Lil One. Lil One however, is content to coo and babble to himself, where Lil One always wanted someone near him.

About 3-4 weeks ago Lil One started getting extremely fussy and cranky around dinnertime (5-6pmish). He would cry inconsolably for about 2-3 hours. It was so excruciating to watch him wail and not being able to help him. Sometimes he'd have bouts of these crying spells in the day as well. I took him to the doctor after a few days of this and he said Lil One has acid reflux. He prescribed zantac for newborns and said that it often lasts until 2 yo. However, it tends to get better after 5-6 mos when babies starting eating. The medicine is helping. Also, we've changed his sleeping position to his side or prop him up at a 30 degree angle. His swing is another godsent and helps a lot.

Anyway, that's whats been going on around here...

Glad the medicine is working! it's so frustrating when they cry so much and you don't know what's wrong.

Good luck with your move, I'm sure it will go according to plan. How exciting!

Happy to year you managed to get the family all packed up. I hate moving, but it does force you to get rid of all kinds of crap you haven't used in years!

I'll keep my fingers crossed that your apartment in NC is ready so the whole family can makes its move together. Plus even though that one bedroom flat is doable, it will be nice for everyone to settle in to their over space and establish a routine in your new home.

Will Lil Man be able to finish out the school year at his current school?

Good Luck with the move. Where in NC are you going. I use to live down there when I was in college, and my dad's side of the family is from that way.

Hope everyone feels better too.

Whew, that sounds like a lot to deal with!

Mr. P had colic for his first six months, and all of us were a little crazy the entire time.

I really didn't there's also Zantac for infants! But I hope everything's great at your end today.

I hope your Little Man is feeling better, and you too.

Hey? Can I get your email address? I called my dr to see if they wanted to see Peanut. I think he has acid reflux. Bubbie had colic type gas when he was an infant and we were able to fix it with TONS of tummy time and gas drops. Nothing seems to be helping Peanut. He wants to be held the majority of the day and evening and is having difficulty staying asleep, etc. I want to find out what your little boys symptoms were. My doc thinks its gas, but it isn't at all like Bubbie was. So frustrated and tired! I'm about ready to change doctors because they haven't been too helpful with his cold either! Argh! I need relief! And I can't stand for my son to cry and I can't fix his problem!

I can't imagine transitioning, sickness, and a baby with reflux, and your post was so matter of fact. Less all the drama, I would have had to vent about. You’re what I call a "gifted" mother. You do it so well! :)

Oh poor babies and poor you with allergies. I have been allergy-free for the past few weeks.

Alyssa was fussy as soon as we brought her home. I realized that she slept fine on my chest, on her tummy and thought at first that this newborn was pulling a fast trick on me. Not recommended I know but I placed her on her tummy from since then and it worked

You know I was up all the time watching this child sleep to make sure she was fine. It was rough. The swing saved my life too.

Hope everyone feels better soon
