January 27
This date is a special date for hubby and I. It's not our wedding anniversary. It's the date we met, it's the day our how it all began happened. Sunday, past, was January 27 and we laughed and remininsced about that day back in 2006.
This is our story...
It was a normal Saturday. I worked a part time job. I had gotten off that job around 1:30pm and as heading to the sitter to pick up Lil Man. On the drive there, I was returning a call to a friend of mine who had left me a message on my cell while at work. I dialed his number and the call rang several times and then...
Male voice: Hello (person sounded very sleepy)
Me: Hey u, I got your message. What's up?
Male voice: Uhh yeah, what's up with you?
Me: Not much just getting off work. So what did you call me about? You said call you back, so that's what I'm doing.
Male voice: Uhhhhh I did? Ummmm I don't know...
Me: Ummmm...who is this?
Male voice: Welllll who is this? Susan?
Me: Susan? Are you a friend of Jerry and answering his phone?
Male voice: Huh????
Me: Uhhhhh I think I have the wrong number....oooooops...sorry!
We both started laughing at this point. I apologized and explained I must have misdialed my friend's number. He said that he thought I was his sister at first. I excused myself so I could get off the phone and he jokingly said "Well you should deliberately misdial the number next time you call your friend." I didn't think much of this comment and just laughed.
Later that night after Lil Man was in bed and I was thinking about the day I started thinking about his comment. Don't ask me how I got the courage to call him back, but I did. It doesn't make sense what would have encouraged me to call since I'm not the one to call back a complete stranger like that.
When he answered the phone he said "I knew you would call me back." And then started laughing.
I asked him how he knew that, with loads of sarcasm in my voice. He told me he was just kidding. But that he hoped I would. He said that he was going to give it a few days to see if I would call back. If I didn't, he was going to call me. If I was uninterested in talking he would have let it go. He thought I had a cute accent, nice sounding voice and a fun laugh. I thought his voice was nice too. He seemed like a good sport despite my faux pas. Anyway, we ended up talking for several hours and exchanged picture through email. Two weeks later we met and the rest is history as they say.
We've had plenty of highs and lows in our two year relationship, but we've made it this far. We are both happy. Our main ingredients for making it work has been never stop saying thank-you especially for the small stuff some people take for granted. One of my friends laughed at me because I told my hubby thank you for watching the boys while I went grocery shopping. She told me that he's supposed to watch them because he's the Dad. I agree he is the Dad and needs to chip in, but disagree in not thanking him for being a great Dad who helps out. Next, we always hold hands. We could be watching t.v. at home or out on the town and you'll find us holding hands. Lastly, we believe in praying together. I couldn't say enough about how powerful prayer is in relationship. We aren't perfect by any means of the word, but we make it work. I'm not tryin' to loose mine, ya'll!

What an awesome story! I got a kick out of that, ya'll were meant to be for sure.
What a lovely story. It just goes to show you that you never know where you will find love!
Now THAT is destiny. Lovely story Ana.
What a "cute meet" you guys had!
Every time I read this it just lights up my day! I think it's wonderful the way you met!
I enjoyed the dialogue. He sounds perfect for you Ana!
I agree that wives should thank their man every chance they get. It makes a difference in the relationship, and certainly feeds a man’s love language -- service!
You know, they like to do for us and hearing our gratitude makes them want to that much more.
You go girl, and hold on to yours...real tight!
I've said it once and I'll say it again, that is one of the most amazing and unbelieveable stories ever! :)Just gives me goosebumps! Meant to be for sure! You must feel incredibly blessed!
