Why do I Blog - Honoring the Garden
Before I begin, I want to say that I hope I do not offend anyone who reads this. A situation occurred on another blog that I felt was very inappropriate. It is my personal opinion that we all deserve a level of privacy on our blogs even if we open them up for others to read. If you are still with me after reading my disclaimer, here is why I blog...
Now that I have been blogging for a few months I have new insight into the power and possiblity that blogging holds. Looking back at my very firstpost my views of what the blogosphere is all about has evolved abit, but one thing remains true in why I blog: "I have a lot to say, but little of it is worth anything to anyone reading or listening to it. However, there's a quiet satisfaction in knowing I've gotten all this mindless nothing outta my head."
Some choose diaries or journals, myspace or livejournal or a variety of other forums to land their thoughts. I chose blogspot. My blog has become my quiet sanctuary, my soft place to rest my thoughts, feelings, emotions, struggles, joy and happinesses. AsWhyMommy so eloquently said a blog is "a place where I felt comfortable spreading out, reading, writing, and leaving things on the table when I’m done."
I mull over that last part where she says "...leaving things on the table when I'm done..." each time I read that comment. In a metaphoric sense I translate it to mean I can slip into my most comfy slippers and clothes; take tranquil refuge in my quiet garden; and let out all my inner ramblings while sipping on a cup of sweet camomile tea. In my hiding place my thoughts are my own and they are safe, protected and respected. Each thought is represented by a different flower or tree. People passing by have the ability to peek into my garden. Some even ask to join me for a moment and share their thoughts on what I am growing. I can pass their gardens too and see what grows there. We can exchange flowers or pass them one to another.
Not everyone who peeks into my garden appreciates what I grow or even agrees with how I've cultivated it. But they honor my work by keeping it free of discord and understanding this is my garden and I am entitled to create it into what I desire.
I've thoroughly enjoyed getting to know other men and women through their gardens, rooms, lakes, and other things they refer to their blogs as. Moreover, I thank all of you who stop by my blog and especially those who comment for wanting to share in my little world. I always welcome visitors and I'm not even opposed to you challenging my thoughts. For I feel it is in differencing view points we sometimes grow and learn. I only ask that you honor my garden and move on if you absolutely can not find any good in it.

Well, you didn't offend me....and maybe I didn't read it with a lot of concentration, but I'm lost. Are you referring to something we'd know about? Or just being vague! :) I do agree with what you've said though! Again, maybe it's my pregnant mind!
The garden metaphor really is very spot-on. I really like what you said here.
Great post!

Wonderfully worded post! Sometimes I think we all need a little reminder that yes, our blogs are open to the public, but it's still OUR blog, and that space should be respected. It's so intriguing to learn about/from other people's garden. Loved that metaphor!
here, here! I agree about your blog being your sanctuary. Post away and enjoy your freedom.

Well put! I don't write for anyone but myself and my family. If someone has a problem with it, they can kindly move on!
I really like the idea of comparing your log to a garden- well written!
The garden analogy really is fitting. We have very similar perspectives on why we blog. The leaving it on the table is so true- once I've released it in my garden I rarely feel the need to pick it back up, even the not so positive thoughts wind up being fertilizer to help all of the beneficial beautiful plants I enjoy growing. I've cultivated a wonderful harvest from my blog as well including getting to relax in the wonderful gardens of blog friends like you.
Amen sis!
That was very beautifully put!
Hey girly..loved the post!! I agree with the other ladies VERY RIGHT ON!!
MISSED YA LOVE...
HOW IS THE PREGNACY GOING?

Hey Lu thanks for not being offended. I probably should have been a little clearer. Sorry about that. I wrote this mostly just to let people know more about the purpose of my blog to avoid a situation that I saw happen on another blog. But no worries, I have preggo brain too! lol
To all of you, thank you so much for your understanding and appreciation for what I had to say!
Great metaphor, and beautifully written!
Great post! I totally agree. Thank goodness I have come across anyone acting up on my blog with their off the wall comments/responses.
You know I cannot stop laughing at you thinking of beating down the granny in the grocery store. HaHa....
2nd Amen!
If I am fullfledged bugging out in my post, then I welcome my readers to join in the free for all, however one must always err on the side of caution and mimick one's hostess or host. There should always be a certain amount of decorum and respect when visiting for tea in someone elses garden!
I'm posting here because your latest post won't allow for comments. However, you did link here.
I respect your garden and the fact that you're the Queen Drama Mama here, but when you visit me, remember I'll be wearing my crown.
What great insight, and very well written. You are an asset to the blogging community.
Can I get green tea with honey whilest I enjoy the garden instead of chamomille? haahah
Ana, post away. Drama or no drama, I'm along for the ride either way. :)
